| I'll post some pics of the rifle here soon, however, i wont be able to post pics of my target from shooting today because after i shot it was shot up with .22 rounds by someone else. i couldn't take pics as i was shooting because i didn't have camer and they didn't know i was going to bring the targets home. i'll get some pics of those the next time i shoot. ANYWAYS - i went out and sighted in my new scope today. the rifle is a marlin xs7 in .243. i have a BSA 3-9x50 on it. used a laser bore site to get it close. after that it only took two rounds to get it on center. i snaked the barrel and let it cool down and then put three shots touching at 100yrds 1" high which should make it dead on at 200 yrds. i dont have a 200 yard range so i can't confirm right now but thats i'm being told it "should" be anyways. i made another 4 "3 shot" groupings after that all punching holes touching each other. i snaked and let it cool between each grouping to get the best results. this is my first marlin to own as i've always owned remington model 700's in the past growing up and i have to say this rifle really has me impressed. funny story - i was did all my shooting with the .243 with the power set to 4 and didn't realize it. i pulled out my grandpas remington 30-06 in semiauto to shoot and sight in and when i looked through it i was confused. the scope on the 06 was already set to 9 and i was like "woah thats close". thats when i looked down at the marlin and saw it was at 4 and thought "if i could shoot 3 shots touching on 4 i have no worries shooting it on power 9" haha. so i've rambled on enough now, sorry its so long but wanted to share my shooting experience with everyone so i hope you enjoyed it haha. i'll post up some pics of my .243 and the 30-06 soon. | |

| i put 3 rounds down it with the barnes after shooting with the remington. they shot same holes. but yes i agree with you majority of the time diferent manufacurers will shoot diferent cause no two brands load their rounds the same. another few boxes of remington down range and i'll start reloading my own anyways. this is just to get me by till i start my reloading learning. then i'll have to start all over again haha. | |

| Dang Hogguy 243 good story, I wish I could shoot targets, cause I know I would get into it!!! I just cant shoot paper or clays for some strange reason!!!! Tried a hundred times, some kind of mental block I guess!?!?!? On the hunt - I dont even think about the shot. It seems almost like it happens by itself. I know that sounds strange but thats my story and Im stickin to it. hahaha | |

| thats not strange at all. my dad is the same way. he'll shoot 2" groups on paper but when it comes down to the kill shot. he's put it right where he wants it everytime. and honestly, thats exactly what it is - when your shooting paper, your mind is on squeezing, recoil, holding steady, wanting to shoot tight groups. but when something good to eat is out front, its all about the kill and nothing else matters at that point. | |

| If your paper target was able to take off or move at anytime, your mind would probably lock onto it faster also. | |

| thats true as well. you have as much time to sit and think about everything like you do when shooting paper. | |

| yeah, that flyer was total mistake on my part. i had been shooting my gramps 30-06 and its a long trigger pull. when i shoot, i always judge my pull so the gun goes off at the bottom of my exhale. well when i went back and shot the .243 i didn't correct my judgment since the .243 has a 2lb trigger and it went off early while i was exhaling. haha as you can imagine i was much more then disappointed in that one. as you can see tho, the next three were right on track. haha | |
