| Made it back Sunday night.. 7 lbs. lighter !! The temps weren't anything out of the ordinary but the humidity was.. Rehydrating was the name of the game for me and I could never quite pull ahead of it. Had leg cramps while trying to sleep, etc. I did get my ram though Before pic, didn't know this was the one I wanted at the time though.. I spotted the one I wanted on Friday.. Saturday morning, he was a no show. I got tired and went back to the trailer to take a nap. Yep, he decides to show up while I'm napping.. figures !! Saturday after noon I'm seeing several different rams.. About 4:30 pm people around me start saying "get ready !!".. Hard for me to shoot off of a bench anymore so I set up my tripod with a rifleholder I built. Set it up at the right height and waited. About 15 min. later here come a ram and then the one I wanted following behind. Walking down a well usd trail.. what I didn't know until almost the last second was that there was someone down there off to my left walking along that same trail !! Everyone waved at him to let him know I was fixing to shoot !! He waved back and jumped into a nearby blind.. unfortunately the two rams either saw the movement or heard it. They did an about face hauled butt back the way they had come. A couple of the younger guys in the group took off running to cut them off and maybe scare them back towards the area where I was waiting. Sure enough, here they come back !! Both of them stopped just short of going into some brush.. I set the crosshairs where I wanted and squeezed.. BOOM !!! I've gotten to where I like that muzzlebrake now !! Saw the ram flinch, turn around and run about 30 yards out of sight.. he had dropped at that point. A whole lot of hoopin' and hollerin' going on, even the guy down below was jumpin' up and down !! Fun ending to a great weekend.. After pic: It has small stripes going thru the horns, ought to make an interesting mount. I think this was the largest ram taken off the ranch this weekend, a huge Black Hawaiian: | |

That white one in the first pic with the orange tag... I would love to get a crack at him...Looking at the all them rocks in the pics i would be on the ground most of the trip tho... | |

| Yeah, that's either a faded red tag or an orange tag on the Merino, (we call them Rambo's) Red tags are cheap compared to orange colored ones. I've forgotten how the colors are arranged. | |

| I think it goes: No tag, white - $90.00 + deposit (that's what I paid this time around) Red tag - $$180.00 + deposit Blue tag - Green tag Orange tag Yellow tag - means ask the owner how much..lol | |

| Definitely made the drive well worth it.. They're trying to get up another hunt sometime in September. I won't be able to do another one but you might try hooking up with that one yourself. If I'm not mistaken I think you're a forum member already of the group that usually goes. | |

| Sure will.. A hunt is tentatively set for Sept. 24th.. but that could change.
Also, you can set up a hunt for yourself and other friends on just about any weekend.

| I didn't see his ranch on the website. Funny thing, my cousin used to be the ranch manager at Maverick Creek Ranch when it was known as Comanche Springs. He still supplies the ranch with a bunch of exotics. Even being in the family, I can't afford to hunt with him. | |
