COMING BACK
TO THE LORD

1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

When you refuse to come and ask for forgiveness you voluntarily walk out from under God’s protection. The protection you once had is no longer available.  Before you walked away from the protection of the Lord, you did not receive some of the attacks of the enemy.  God was preventing Satan from bringing them to you, because of a wall of protection that was put around you.  As soon as you walk away, the wall of protection is no longer available.  You now find that the attacks of the enemy seem to be coming on you in a greater way.  Exodus 34:7 tells you that even though His mercy and kindness reaches out generation after generation, it will not clear the guilty.  Only your faith in the sacrifice of Jesus will permit God to clear you.

Prayer Thought

Forgiveness is the key that unlocks the door of resentment and the handcuffs of hate.  It’s a power that breaks the chains of bitterness and the shackles of selfishness.  The Lord is in the cleaning business, not the whitewashing business!

GUARDING YOUR MOUTH

Psalm 141:3 Set a guard, O Lord, over my mouth; keep watch over the door of my lips.

Controlling the words of your mouth are easier said than done, because something may slip out when you least expect it.  The Psalmist asks the Lord to set a guard over his mouth, because he knows how difficult it is to accomplish it himself.  Start the day in prayer asking the Lord to help you with your words.  Pray during the day, then close the day in prayer.  God will give directions for your daily activities because of prayer.  Breakdowns in peoples lives invariable didn’t come all of a sudden, but usually occur because of small breakdowns in Bible reading and prayer over a period of time.  The attitude of some is, “That won’t happen to me because I’m too strong a Christian.” Don’t believe it, because the enemy will be after you in a bigger way.  Go back to the Word, then pray the Word, then expect the Lord to help you.

Prayer Thought

If you don’t want it - don’t say it.  Your words are seeds you plant and then wonder where the crop comes from.  Never again speak what you don’t expect to receive.  A lot of things are opened by mistake, but none so often as the mouth.

DON’T LIVE IN
FEAR OF FAILURE

John 15:3 You are already clean because of the word which I have spoken to you.

The atoning blood of Jesus keeps on flowing to cleanse you all the time because you are His.  You are not cleansed just by verbal confession because your lips can say words you don’t mean.  Your true confession comes from the heart when your sincere desire is to please Him.  God loves you so much that He wants you to know that you don’t have to live in fear of failure in word, thought or deed.  When little things divert your attention, a little temper rises or a bad attitude creeps in and you temporarily forget to ask God’s forgiveness for it.  He looks at your heart and your intentions.  You are justified under the new law because of what Jesus did when He died for you, and that precious blood continues to cleanse as long as you want to stay under the covering God provided.

Prayer Thought

Faith becomes fear when you fail to use it.  On the other end of faith is fear.  If you stumble or fall, ask His forgiveness, get up and go on.  He’s always there to help.

VIRTUE

2 Peter 1:5 But also for this very reason, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue, to virtue knowledge.

All of you are desirous of increasing your faith so that you will be able to get your prayers answered.  This is possible as you spend more time studying your Bible, see Romans 10:17.  Peter tells you to add virtue to your faith.  Some of the dictionary definitions are, goodness, moral excellence and purity.  Virtue seems to be lacking in the lives of many who call themselves Christians.  Their attitude is that it’s not necessary unless they are caught.  God has a different idea for you, and expects you to fulfill this command in your life if you are going to spend eternity with Him.  The first step that is necessary is to have a desire to be virtuous.  Next it is necessary to allow him to point out the things that are missing the mark in your life.  Ask Him to make you fit for the Master’s use.

Prayer Thought

When you’re tempted to not do what you know is right, recognize where the temptation is originating. Resist the devil vigorously so that he will feel like a lion in the den with Daniel.

GOD’S
LOVE IN YOU

John 17:26 And I have declared to them Your name, and will declare it, that the love with which You loved Me may be in them, and I in them.

The love God the Father had for His Son, is the same quality He has for each one who has accepted Jesus as their personal Savior.  He wants this love to continue to grow in you, but it’s up to you to accept or reject it.  A person may say they love the Lord, but actions will speak louder than words.  You show your love for Him in a variety of ways, and one of them is longing to be in His presence.  Does it seem to be drudgery when its necessary to go to a prayer meeting?  If a meal was going to be served during the time of a prayer meeting, possible three times as many people would show up, than if there was no meal served.  God wants you to love Him for who He is, and not what you can get out of Him.  Develop a love life with Him through prayer and study His Word, and see Him greatly respond.

Prayer Thought

The truest end of life is to know the life that never ends.  Is your passport for eternity in order?  Don’t put it off, you may need it sooner than you think.

IMPATIENCE

Galatians 6:9 And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart.

Impatience will frequently put you into a crisis that would not have come had you been patient.  Frequently people go to God in prayer as an afterthought, instead of coming to Him in the beginning to find His will.  Problems will come when you listen to the wrong “experts.”  This is usually based on the visible which is presently happening, whereas God sees what is going to happen.  When Paul was on the ship going to Rome, Acts 27:13-26, during the storm the sailors panicked and threw out much cargo and tackle.  Don’t throw out things of value in a time of crisis.  Some stop reading their Bibles, praying or going to Church, whereas if they would hold on a little longer, they would receive God’s answer for them.  Wait for God’s direction in your time of need, and you will be blessed.

Prayer Thought

Exodus 14:14 says, “The Lord will fight for you while you keep silent.” - N. A. S. B.   Impatience can cause wise people to do foolish things.

LAYING ASIDE
HINDRANCES

Hebrews 12:1 Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us.

People who are going to participate in a race will remove any extra weight that is not necessary, because they realize it will slow them down.  In the high mountains of the Andes, extra weight becomes more critical, because the airplane could crash into the mountains before it becomes airborne.  This is also true with the Believer, the higher you want to soar with the Lord, the more you need to drop off different things others may call acceptable.  This must not be an occasional thing, but must become a lifestyle.  God is calling you to pursue a higher standard, because He wants His power to flow through you unrestricted, to enable you to help others in their time of need.

Prayer Thought

Believe and act as if it were impossible to fail, for with God’s help you will not fail.  If you want to be a part of a sure producer, you need to make sure that you are projecting God’s Word.

OVERCOMING
BAD HABITS

John 15:16 You did not choose Me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain, that whatever you ask the Father in My name He may give you.

Many feel it’s impossible to not do something wrong at least once during the day.  The above verse says the exact opposite.  Jesus states, “Whatever you ask the Father in My name He may give you.”  Whatever includes asking Him to enable you to turn down every temptation that comes your way today.  Don’t think of it as a complete day, but think of it as segments of time when added together making up a day.  Can you keep from doing something wrong for the next thirty minutes?  The answer is yes, with the help of the Lord.  Ask the Lord to help you, and then expect to see complete victory through every thirty minute period of the day.

Prayer Thought

Jesus has given you all the authority and power to stomp on sin and sickness and every other demonic thing in the earth.  Put the works of Satan under your feet,  Ephesians 1:23.

JUSTIFIED BY
GOD’S FAVOR

Romans 3:24 Being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus.

It’s totally impossible for any of you to be worthy of redemption, because in the eyes of the Lord, all your righteousness is as filthy rags, Isaiah 64:6.  The basis for self-righteousness has been removed. You receive redemption because of God’s divine favor, which is freely given to all who believe.  God even gives you the type of faith needed to receive salvation, see Ephesians 2:8,9. He gives you the ability to live for Him, providing you depend on His Word and the guidance of the Holy Spirit.  You are not to try to live a Christian life, but remember that the Holy Spirit enables you to accomplish this.  The more you permeate your spirit with the Word of God, the easier it is to live for Him.  Spend time in His Word today, asking Him to direct you to what to read.  Next apply His word to your life, expecting Him to honor His promises.

Prayer Thought

It you don’t stand for something, you’ll fall for anything.  The choices of habit are generally too small to be felt until they’re too strong to be broken.  Take care that your habits are God based!

November 11

ACCESS TO
HIS FAVOR

Romans 5:2 Through whom also we have access by faith into this grace (God’s favor) in which we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.

Living in holiness enables you to have access to God’s divine favor for your life.  There are some who are not living in holiness, but say they are blessed.  They may be reaping the efforts of hard work, or seed they planted, but that does not mean they are receiving God’s approval.  Living in holiness will bring God’s favor, and will also enable you to keep the hope of the glory of God for yourself.  This divine hope is an earnest expectation of what God has in store for you in the near future.  He has a future prepared for you, and does not want you to become discouraged if you don’t see the answers immediately.  Regardless of the circumstances you find yourself in, remain convinced that God is going to meet your need, because He loves you.  Expect to see victory soon.

Prayer Thought

If you can’t trust God and His Word, who and what CAN you trust?  Luke 1:37, “For every promise from God shall surely come true.” - The Living Bible.

RECEIVING GOD’S
FAVOR IN VAIN

2 Corinthians 6:1 We then, as workers together with Him also plead with you not to receive the grace of God in vain.

The first favor God has made available to us is Salvation.  The Lord wants to save everyone, but not everyone is willing to accept it, and live for Him.  Those who turn down the gift of Salvation are inferring that it was provided in vain.  The next great favor God has, is meeting our needs on a continual basis.  Many Believers frantically come to the Lord in prayer during the time of need, but after it has been met forget to thank Him, or live for Him.  God’s favor will finally stop, because He sees that it is being treated lightly and not really appreciated.  Start counting the blessing you have recently received, then praise and thank Him for them.  As you remember them, you will be able to remind others of what God has done for you, which will show His faithfulness.

Prayer Thought

Living in Christ - Life is a daily journey.  Let your life consistently reflect Him in ALL you do.   Being a Christian isn’t a destination; it’s a lifelong journey.

CHRIST
YOUR HEALER

Psalm 103:3 Who forgives all your iniquities, Who heals all your diseases.

Sickness came into the world because of sin in the Garden of Eden.  When a person sins he breaks fellowship with God, but sickness doesn’t break fellowship with Him.  Many people have been greatly blessed when visiting a godly sick person.  The sick person was a very spiritual help to the visitor, because sickness is not a sin.  Jesus paid for your healing at Calvary, because 1 Peter 2:24 states: “Who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness; by whose stripes you were healed.”  James 5:14 states: “Is anyone among you sick?  Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord.  15.  And the prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise him up.”  Receive healing from Him today.  It’s not maybe, it’s a promise.

Prayer Thought

God never puts sickness on our bodies.  By disobedience and carelessness we become ill, but God provides the answer in His Word.  God’s Word will not work for you unless you apply it.

DIVINE
GUIDANCE

Isaiah 30:21 Your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, “This is the way, walk in it,” whenever you turn to the right hand or whenever you turn to the left.

Mankind was made in the image of God, who is a spirit being.  You have a mind and live in a body.  As much as 999 people out of 1,000 will never hear an audible voice of the Lord.   Since God is a spirit being, He communicates to you from His Spirit to your spirit.

Communication with God starts with worship, where you open the door to allow the Holy Spirit to minister to you.  He will speak to your spirit, which will relay the message to your mind, and this puts the rest of the body into action.  Your spirit must be in tune with the Spirit of God in order to receive communication from Him.  The closer you walk with the Lord, the easier it will be for you to recognize His voice.  Start getting closer to Him through worship today.

Prayer Thought

Don’t ask for trouble by placing yourself in the path of evildoers.  You are in the world, but you don’t have to be of it.  Follow God’s way as He says, “This is the way, walk ye in it.”

LOVING GOD
IN SINCERITY

Ephesians 6:24  Grace (DIVINE Favor) be with all those who love our Lord Jesus Christ in sincerity. Amen.

Grace, or divine favor is available for all of you who love our Lord Jesus Christ in sincerity.  Many serve the Lord because they are only interested in what they can get from Him.  Listen to the prayers of some people and  see how much time is spent in praise and worship in comparison to bringing their needs to Him.  I am not referring to intercessory prayer, but regular prayer.  Once I wanted to spend an hour in prayer before I went to the 6 a.m. prayer meeting.  After spending fifty-five minutes in praise and worship, I looked at my watch and realized it was almost time to leave for Church, but had not brought any petitions to the Lord.  The Lord, knowing my thoughts immediately said, “I know your needs, and will take care of them.”  Start spending more time in praising the Lord.

Prayer Thought

If the devil can steal your joy, he can get everything else.  He always comes to discourage, never encourage.  Truth often hurts, but it’s the lie that leaves the scar.  Lying’s a handle that fits all the devil’s tools.  Praise the Lord and Satan is defeated.

WALKING
IN LOVE

Ephesians 5:2 And walk in love, as Christ also has loved us and given Himself for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling aroma.

Walking in love with believers is a requirement for living a holy life.  It is easy to say you love others, but it’s more difficult to demonstrate it.  Once a lady went to a restaurant that had some tables near the sidewalk.  As she was sipping her tea, she noticed a very lovely fragrance in the air.  When the waitress came by she asked her where the aroma was coming from.  She was told that the workers at the perfume factory had just left for the day, and were passing the restaurant.  Their clothes were saturated with the perfume odors, and the wind blew the scent their way.  Brotherly love will radiate from you, or the opposite will be evident as well.  You’re the one that makes the choice by what you feed into your spirit, because out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.

Prayer Thought

Be humble - don’t center your life on you!  Be first God-centered, then others-centered.  Be gentle - that’s power under God’s control - strength channeled.  When things get out of control, you don’t.

November 18

PROGRAMMING
YOUR SPIRIT

Romans 10:17 So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God

God has programmed your mind to step aside, or shut down during an emergency.  The spirit then takes over and controls the mind through power coming from some other source.  Many have filled their spirit with trivia, and can quote large amounts of data, but are unable to cope with an emergency.  You are to make a choice to fill your spirit before the emergency arrives.  The best choice is to fill your spirit with the promises of God.  These will be able to control your mind during a time of trouble.  There is no divine faith in the human mind or body.  It’s planted and grows in the spirit, because it’s a gift from God.  God increases His faith in you as you study and believe His Word.  Believing comes from the mind, whereas divine faith must be in your spirit.  Take time every day to increase your divine faith by reading the Word.

Prayer Thought

The adage “you are what you eat” in the physical realm, has a direct parallel in the spiritual.  If you ingest the TV and books, etc., and eat no Word, “you are what you eat”, but if the Word is your diet - then His strength will be yours.

ANSWERING
KINDLY

Colossians 4:6 Let your speech always be with grace, seasoned with salt, that you may know how you ought to answer each one.

There will be times when you may become irritated with the way someone is speaking to you.  Your first thought may be to retaliate, but is that what the Lord would want you to do?  In a small town where it was necessary to go through a telephone operator to place a telephone call, one pastor had to call three times, because the first two times the operator gave him the wrong number.  Each time he spoke very nicely to her and didn’t get angry.  After he was connected to the right person, the operator asked the person at the next switchboard who the man was.  When she was told that he was the pastor of a local church, she decided to go to his church.  Ask the Lord to direct your words and thoughts today, so that you will be void of offence toward God and man.

Prayer Thought

“Father, let my life so shine that others might see Your reflection in me.”   We’re not human beings having a temporary spiritual experience, but spiritual beings having a temporary human experience.

DIRECTED BY
THE LORD

1 Kings 18:36 .....“Lord God of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, let it be known this day that You are God in Israel, and that I am Your servant, and that I have done all these things at Your word.”

When God speaks to you and tells you what to do, He becomes responsible for fulfilling what He wants accomplished through your obedience.  Sometimes people are controlled by presumption, so be sure it’s the Lord who is directing you.  The next thing is to find out what He wants you to do.  There will be times when He wants you to pray for a place, but you may get the idea He wants you to go there.  Don’t be misled by circumstances, because they may change shortly.  At the Red Sea the Children of Israel may have thought they were out of God’s will with the Egyptian army behind them, but they soon saw the Sea open up to allow them to cross over, as well as destroy their enemy.  Ask the Lord for guidance for each day.

Prayer Thought

We are inclined to get disappointments and appointments mixed up.   Walk away from your problem and let God work on the answer.  You’ll be glad you didn’t try to work it out when you see the answer He comes up with.

JESUS THE AUTHOR
OF YOUR FAITH

Hebrews 12:2 Looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Many Christians act as if living by faith was only a one time situation, and use their faith like a fire extinguisher, which is only used in an emergency.  You must do it God’s way, which is living by faith and daily depending on the promises of God.  God is the same yesterday, today and forever, and does not change.  Jesus is the developer of your faith.  He is the head of the body of the Church, and meets your needs according to His riches in glory.  Continue in the Word, and as you get to know Him better, you will be able to better understand the principles of divine faith, which is increased by reading your Bible.

Prayer Thought

What is the secret of prayer?  What is the secret of moving mountains by the prayer of faith?  The first thing to recognize is the presence of Him who created the mountains.  - G. Lindsay.

DON’T STOP
BELIEVING

Galatians 6:9 And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart.

The only option unbelief has is to quit and give up.  You may feel that God is still alive, but will not change your situation.  Faith claims God is still in charge and will enable you to overcome. Divine intervention is going to take place when obedience to God’s commands are fulfilled.  Are you facing a big obstacle in your life today?  Does it look like things are going wrong, and there are no answers in sight?  The Children of Israel were in such a situation when facing the Red Sea.  The Egyptian army was behind them, the Sea was ahead of them, and mountains were on both sides of them.  God had chosen the deepest point of the Red Sea to cross, because He wanted the Egyptians to drown in it.  As God intervened in their lives, He will take care of you as well.

Prayer Thought

There’s not a mountain too high for you and God to climb.  There is never a river too deep for Him to get you across, there’s never an obstacle that He can’t get you around - just trust Him!

JUSTIFIED
BY FAITH

Romans 5:1 Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.

Justification is given by God to all who believe.  It makes no difference where you live, what background or color you are.  The requirement is that you recognize your need of a Savior, and ask Him to take full control of your life.  All are treated on the same basis, regardless of social standing.  Your dependancy must always be on Him.  When you accept Jesus as your personal Savior, you are given citizenship in Heaven.  Picture in your mind a country that tells the officers at their border, to only allow citizens of their country to enter that day.  It won’t make any difference what type of car you drive in, or what’s in the car, the only way they will let you in, will be if you are a citizen of that country.  Denomination affiliation will not get you into Heaven, but being a child of His, will allow you in.

Prayer Thought

Always aim at Heaven and you’ll get earth.  Throw in your aim at earth and you’ll get neither.  Set your affections on things above, not on earth.

GOD PROVIDES
YOUR NEEDS

Job 5:20 In famine He shall redeem you from death, and in war from the power of the sword. 21. You shall be hidden from the scourge of the tongue, and you shall not be afraid of destruction when it comes.

A famine is sweeping many countries, whereas adverse weather conditions are increasing the shortages in the exporting countries.  This is causing a spirit of fear to grip many people, because they see little hope for the future.  Are you triumphant over fear?  God wants you to be, so you can be a good example to the world.  He has given you power over fear that would stop you from claiming His promises.  God wants to provide your food during the time of famine, as well as everything else you need.  Destruction from storms and earthquakes will come, but the Lord is your protection.  Expect Him to honor His Word in a mighty way in the days to come.

Prayer Thought

The Scripture tells you that, “Perfect love casts out all fear.”  With God in control, you have nothing to be afraid of, let Him have control.

WALKING
IN FAITH

John 9:7 And He said to him, “Go, wash in the pool of Siloam” (which is translated, Sent). So he went and washed, and came back seeing.

The disciples pointed out a blind man to Jesus. He spit on the ground and made clay with his saliva; then anointed the eyes of the blind man with the clay. Then the blind man was told to go the Pool of Siloam and wash his face.  Normally this would not make any sense to a person who wanted healing.  The blind man had to find his way across the city, locate the pool, fight the crowd that was normally there, before he could wash.  As soon as he had completed the order, he was completely healed.  There will be times when the Lord gives you instructions, but there seems to be no connection between them and the answer to the need you have been praying about.  The Lord is looking for obedience on your part, even when you don’t understand why.

Prayer Thought

Faith grows through trusting God when you can’t see or find answers.  Delayed obedience is disobedience.  Others will follow your footsteps more easily than they will follow your advice.

USING FAITH
OF OTHERS

Mark 2:5 When Jesus saw their faith, He said to the paralytic, “Son, your sins are forgiven you.” 11. “I say to you, arise, take up your bed, and go your way to your house.”

Once a man was brought to Jesus by four friends.  Since the crowd was too big, his friends took off some tiles on the roof and let the man down.  He was too sick to use his faith, so Jesus honored their faith.  The man still was not qualified to receive healing because of his relationship with God, so Jesus took care of that problem first.  Once his sins were taken care of, he was completely healed, see Mark 2:10-12.  There may be times in your own life when you are too ill to believe for healing.  Find someone who knows how to pray, believing for you.  Make sure there are no hindrances in your life, by asking the Lord for forgiveness that would stop your healing.  Expect the Lord to honor your friend’s faith for your total victory.

Prayer Thought

It is not the greatness of your faith that will move the mountains, but your faith in the greatness of God.

GOD HONORS
HIS WORD

Isaiah 55:11So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; it shall not return to Me void, but it shall accomplish what I please, and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.

God has given you the privilege of quoting His Word, and then expecting Him to honor it.  He loves to see you expect Him to stand behind His promises.  Many claim that miracles were to get the Church started in the days of the apostles, but are no longer available.  God has a different idea, because He wants you to believe for miracles in this century as well.  First identify the need, next identify the promise in the Bible that will apply to it.  Thirdly ask the Lord what His will is, then bring the need and the promise to God in prayer, reminding Him of His promise.  Faith is depending that God is going to honor His Word in spite of the circumstances.  There may be oppositions to faith, but your faith must stand on the Word of God.

Prayer Thought

His Word cannot lie, His Word will never let you down - but His Word is useless unless you follow the Prescription and USE it!

OUR VALUE
TO GOD

Hebrews 4:16 Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, (favor, love-gifts), that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.

Your value to God is not based on your performance; it is based on His love for you, Hebrews 4:14-16, in spite of what you have done in the past.  God does not place conditions on His love for you, because He loves you unconditionally.  Realize that God doesn’t wink at sin, but is wanting you to bring your sins to Him.  He does not want you to confess them because He is unaware of them, but because He wants you to admit what you have done.  The Lord is more interested in you, than what you do.  His desire is to make you a reflection of Himself, to cause others to have a desire to come to Him as well.  Bring your needs and frustrations to Him, expecting Him to help you.  He wants to work in and through you in a mighty way.

Prayer Thought

For He so loved you that He gave ALL.  He did so that you might have an everlasting life.  Turn every care into a prayer and leave it there!

COMING
BOLDLY TO GOD

Hebrews 13:6 So we may boldly say: “The Lord is my helper; I will not fear.  What can man do to me?”

Are you facing a difficult situation today and don’t see any way around it?  As you share your problem with someone else, their response may be, “Join the club, because I’m in the same situation.”  Take your need to the Lord, because He wants to help you today.  He wants you to boldly state that He is your helper.  Speak with confidence, because He will not let you down, if you are living for Him.  His idea is that there is nothing people can do to you that He can’t control. Daniel’s three friends may have felt God let them down when they were put into the furnace.  They soon found out that Jesus was with them during the trial, enabling them to walk around in the fire, although it had just destroyed the people who threw them in.  When they came out of the furnace they were promoted, and God received greater glory.

Prayer Thought

Jesus always carries the heavy end of the cross.  He will never allow you to bear more than your strength will permit.  If your load is too heavy, maybe you’ve taken more of it than He’s given you.

FRUIT BEARING
CHRISTIANS

John 15:8 By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; so you will be My disciples.

God will not allow His power to be used through a carnal Christian.  Some Christians have two sides to their nature.  The one side is seen at church or among the people from church, whereas the other side is seen at the workplace.  These Christians will not bear any fruit.  There must be self-discipline, and your lives must line up with what the Bible teaches.  Jesus has given you Power of Attorney, and in acting on His behalf, you have to conduct yourself as He would conduct Himself.  You may be tempted to “tell a person off,” but what would Jesus do?  You may want to “pay a person back,” or have mean thoughts about a person, but what would Jesus do?  Isaiah 53 shows how Jesus was mistreated, but did not retaliate.  As you trust Jesus, He will give you power to live up to these standards.

Prayer Thought

You can do what God says you can do.  Affirm these words, “I am who God says I am.  I have what God says I have.  I can do what God says I can do.”

GOD
WORKING IN YOU

Philippians 2:13 For it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure.

Hypocrisy is common in the lives of many who claim to be Christians, because they are hearers and not doers.  Many act as though a life of holiness is an endurance race, and feel they must try harder to be successful.  Realize its God’s work in you that makes it possible for you to live a life of holiness.  His power flowing through you will enable you to reflect His nature and character.  Others will see this, and realize you have been with Jesus. This will be possible as you spend time in His Word and pray daily.  Prayer should be communication between you and the Lord, instead of just a one sided conversation.  During this time the Holy Spirit will be able to give you guidance for the day’s activities, on many occasions saving you a lot of problems, if followed.  He also wants to give you ideas that will help others in their time of need.

Prayer Thought

If you wish to know the character of the prince, look at his ministries; if you wish to

KNOWING
GOD’S NAME

Psalm 91:14 Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore I will deliver him; I will set him on high, because he has known My name.

In Bible times many were given names because of their meanings.  Do you know the meaning of the names of God?  In one sense the word “God” is a title and not a name.  God has many names, and it’s an excellent idea for you to make a list of them, learning and memorizing their meanings.  One of God’s names is “Jehovah Jirah,” which means “MY PROVIDER.” God wants to stand behind the meaning of His name to be your provider.  Don’t think of it as being His responsibility to living up to His name, but start thinking of it as your responsibility to depend on His promise.  Praise the Lord that He is your provider, and He will supply your every need.  He is faithful to fulfill His promise.  God receives glory when He supplies the needs of those who depend on Him.

Prayer Thought

Be not weary in well doing - if you don’t cut and run, God will bring you through to the end of the tunnel.  Stick to it!!  God is bigger than any problem, and He will provide. - The Message.

THE LORD
OUR STRENGTH

Isaiah 40:29 He gives power to the weak, and to those who have no might He increases strength.

Many have stated they are not as young as they used to be, because they feel more aches and don’t have as much strength as they once did.  Do you feel helpless?  Listen to what you tell others.  Are you telling all about your problems, or are you telling others what God has promised in His word, and will do for you?  Whenever you are complaining about your problems you stop faith from working in your life.  You should be praising the Lord by telling others that God is going to honor His Word and cause a change to take place to meet the need.  In the United States people may phone “9-1-1” for emergency help in time of need.  God wants you to rely on His promises.  Quote Psalm 91:1.  God wants to honor His Word, but you must first believe, then act on it.  Ask Him how you should pray, then expect results.

Prayer Thought

“Steep your life in God - reality, God - initiative, God - provisions.  You’ll find all your everyday human concerns will be met.  God will help you deal with whatever hard things come up when the time comes.” - The Message.

PREPARATION
FOR SERVICE

2 Timothy 2:15 Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

Lack of holiness in your life is a good way to keep from being approved by the Lord.  Paul tells you to be diligent to present yourself approved to God, which indicates it takes work.  This is not to be a hit or miss situation, but a daily act on your part.  Temptations will come to get you to think or act like the world, but when you have the goal of always wanting to have the Lord’s approval, you will do your best to resist those thoughts.  The next thing mentioned is that you are to rightly divide the Word of truth.  Many who do not read their Bibles, claim it is too hard to understand.  This is only an excuse because the Holy Spirit is very willing to help them understand.  Any time you don’t understand something, ask the Lord to direct you, because He wants you to use His promises effectively.

Prayer Thought

I shall never have asked too much, I shall never have thought too much, until I’ve asked beyond God’s ability!

PATIENCE

Hebrews 6:12 That you do not become sluggish, but imitate those who through faith and patience inherit the promises.

In these days of instant coffee and many other instant products, delayed action becomes frustrating in the lives of many people, because they are looking for instant gratification.  There will be times when it’s the will of the Lord to receive the answer, but it is not the right timing.  Frustration can become possible when you are not completely depending on God’s promises.  The easier it will be to depend on God’s promises as you see other promises fulfilled.  Start looking for simple ones that will be easier for you to believe.  Then raise your level of faith to receive the answer.  Later as the need arises, aim a little higher, and raise your faith for that answer.  Romans 10:17 tells you, “Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God.”  Study your Bible to receive more faith.

Prayer Thought

Faith is not believing God can; faith is believing God will.  Faith opens the door to God’s promise and patience keeps it open until that promise is fulfilled.

THE PRESENCE

OF GOD

Acts 27:23 For there stood by me this night an angel of the God to whom I belong and whom I serve.

Anchors in your life are always necessary, and the storms of life can never hide the face of God.  You never go through anything alone, because the presence of God is always available for you.  Pay attention to God’s purpose in your life because you need to have a sense of destiny.  You may not understand where He is taking you, but as you trust in Him, you’ll not be let down.  Picture in your mind a man who falls off a cliff in the dark.  As he falls he passes a tree, and grabs a lower branch.  He calls for help and someone tells him to let go and drop.  Not knowing how far it’s to the bottom, he asks for a second opinion.  If he knows he is only two feet from the ground, he will gladly let go.  Many times the answers you are looking for are within reach, but you cling to the problem.  Ask God for instructions, then let Him help you, let go!

Prayer Thought

Trust in the Lord with all your heart, lean not to your own understanding, in all your ways acknowledge Him and He WILL direct your paths. Proverbs 3:5,6.  Your needs are never greater than God’s supply.

GOD KNOWS THOSE

WHO TRUST HIM

Nahum 1:7 The Lord is good, a stronghold in the day of trouble; and He knows those who trust in Him.

A stronghold is a fortress or place where you can receive protection from enemy attack.  God is a good God, and wants to become your fortress.  Sometimes He will give directions which may not make any sense at the moment, but later you will find it was the best thing you could do.  At the close of World War Two a friend of mine was living with his parents in East Germany.  One night his father came home and told the family to pack their suitcases because they were immediately leaving for West Germany.  They crossed the border at 9 p.m., and the Iron Curtain went up three hours later.  God had directed the father, protecting them from the trouble to come where they had been living.  Since you are trusting the Lord, expect Him to become your protection in a time of need.

Prayer Thought

If Jesus says, “Get into the ship,” He doesn’t expect you to drown getting to the other side.  Stormy weather doesn’t last forever.  Keep your eyes on Jesus. Don’t be moved by what you hear, feel or see.  Just trust God’s promises.

GOD’S

PROTECTION

Psalm 73:23 Nevertheless I am continually with You; You hold me by my right hand. 24. You will guide me with Your counsel, and afterward receive me to glory.

The Psalmist states he is continually with the Lord, which is why God holds him by his right hand.  How can he claim this?  This is possible as you make it a lifestyle of serving the Lord and trying to please Him.  Wanting to please the Lord with your thoughts, words and actions will be possible when that becomes your desire, because He will give you the ability to do so.  The Psalmist next states that God guides him with His counsel.  God shows no partiality Acts 10:34, and will do the same for you - if you will let Him.  Make it a daily habit to spend time in prayer and reading His Word.  Expect Him to give you divine wisdom for the day’s activities, which will enable you to end each day a lot less stressful.

Prayer Thought

There’s a story of a mother hen and her baby chicks that were caught in a barn fire.  When it was all over, the hen was discovered dead, but under her wings the chicks were alive and protected.  “Under His wings you are safe.”

It is impossible to sell someone on something you’re not totally sold on.  Whatever is on the inside will be spoken by your mouth.  If you have much doubt, you will frequently be speaking negative things.  You may try to cover up what you say by stating, “I was only kidding.”  Actually what was on the inside came out.  Are the words of the above verse only in your mind, or have you planted them into your spirit as well?  You limit the power of God working in your life by the words you speak, because Proverbs 6:2  states, “You are snared (trapped) by the words of your own mouth.” The Lord is your deliverer, but this will only be available as you depend on His promises.  Find the ones He has for you and see Him honor His Word.

Roman]20"] [/size]

We have the capacity to encourage or discourage, to lift up or to tear down.  Words are powerful tools.  Controlled by the Lord they can be mighty.  Controlled by Satan, they can destroy, - you choose!
