Axis are really really tasty, and you can shoot them any time of the year! But you probably already knew that. what you might not know is axis graze like a cow along with browse like a white tail so they do very well in texas. also from what i have seen the bucks seem to keep harems of 5 to 6 does at some times of the year and in bachelor groups at other times. Them bucks are pretty smart often you never see them but they are there, youll have to listen for them they make a loud bugle or type of whistle youll know it when you hear it! The bucks drop the antlers around the time of year they were born and that varys. For example two weeks ago we saw a buck in hard horn one in velvet and one that just dropped his head gear. The problem with axis is they out eat,and out breed the white tail if you dont have a lot of natural browse, ie, oak trees , mesquite beans etc. to feed both populations then I would suggest to shoot them down and keep the numbers low. | Red, Good sign that you have some. Been looking into those but they are just to high dollar to go for what I have found. People are just wanting too much. If you do run across a place that dose not charge much, let me know. |

| Red, that will probably be your biggest problem is keeping the other folks from getting at these if you know what I mean. All and good when you there but what happens when your not. Some folks get real greedy if you know what I mean. Then again you may have a good group of folks out there. I would make sure you make it to good out there for them to leave. hehe |
