Winter trout Empty
PostSubject: Winter trout   Winter trout EmptyTue Feb 08, 2011 6:26 am

I don't know if I just never saw this before, or just never looked. But I found that the state stocks local lakes in the winter with trout with the purpose of being caught and taken home before the warm weather takes its toll on them. Looks like I need to pull out the fly fishing gear and get out there. I know a lot of areas that have trout are catch and release, and that's ok. But getting them in a frying pan is even better.

Do we need a special fishing permit for this?

just your fishing license, not sure if TX requires a trout stamp I'll look. On the trout stocking schedule I found 2 ponds near me that get stocked every 2 weeks until early march.
So I guess I'm not the only one surprised to find out this info. I was looking for areas near TX to fly fish and found the trout stocking schedule. I don't have insulated waders, but I'll wear insulated socks in the waders I have if it means I can pull out the fly rig.
