| And we worry about the lease prices...now its the feed cost that may drive us to hunt once a day.... | |

| Got a Question for you guys...What do you think about buying bags of peas like you would at the grocery store and mixing it in with the corn? | |

| Hogs aint no problem ...We welcome them to the feeders, that's why we lease a place just for pig huntin.... I hear you can buy a mixture of peas and corn or maybe just peas in a 50lb bag.....I was just thinking maybe buying a few small bags, like 5 maybe and mixing them in the feeder with the corn for deer... They say the peas are a good protein.
At my Deer lease up in Brady Tx. we dont feed after deer season is over cause the landowner turn out his goats and sheep ....we start feeding oct. 1 ....feeders run 10sc. morning and eve....there so many deer there that the hunt would not last very long if we fed less..No hogs in our Brady area...

| RD, I don't think the peas would be a benefit for you if you don't start feeding until October. Peas are a great source of protien. Protien is most beneficial (in Texas) from Feb - Aug for antler development. The does benefit most from Jan - October for fetal development and milk production. WATER would be beneficial as well. Here's a website I heard on Petersen's Bowhunting Podcast. They went into detail about what is needed and when for deer. http://www.huntrack1.com/ | |

| Makes me want to plant peas all along the barb wire fence around our hunting areas. Use the fence for the vines to grow on.. Would be useless to do that though, no rain in sight anytime soon. | |

| One of the smaller ranches we do work for uses cotton seed to keep thier corn cost down. Only problem is it takes a little while for the deer to warm up to it,
and it wont throw out of a barrel feeder.
Gotta use a trough or I think a protien feeder works also.
The guy says after the first year the cost of setting everything up is paid for
and every year after that is pure savings!!
